@coach.pip and I are holding a well-being event on Sunday 28th July. If you’re ready to make this summer all about you and want to learn more about how you can support your body naturally during the perimenopause we’d love to see you there!

They’ll be a nutrition talk where I’ll delve into all things hormone related and focus on diet and lifestyle tips to help you thrive during the transition, followed by a yoga and meditation session and goody bag to take home. If you fancy a dip in the sea afterwards (and the weather permits!) you’re welcome to join us for that too!

My Sri Lanka Toolkit! Whenever I go away I pack my

My Sri Lanka Toolkit! Whenever I go away I pack myself an alternative medicinal toolkit for the less glamorous side of travelling! For anyone thinking of visiting Sri Lanka, or a similar tropical country I thought I’d share my essentials.

🌴 GOLDEN SEAL - it averaged around 35deg while I was there and so air-con on the bus and hotels was a welcome respite from the heat and humidity. But that amount of exposure can also play havoc with your immune system and respiratory tract. A few of our group also had coughs and so every morning for 10-days I took 2 pipettes (56 drops) of Golden Seal. Golden seal is also known as a natural antibiotic for its anti-bacterial and anti microbial properties and so this also helped my digestive system stay healthy.

🌴 NETTLE LEAF - In Kandy we visited a tea plantation where I got to pick tea leaves. A few hours later my forearms developed a mild prickly rash. Nettle Leaf helped clear it up really quickly. I was actually taking nettle leaf everyday as it is also anti-viral, anti-bacterial, immune boosting and acts as a natural diuretic which can move excess fluid from the body and helped my swollen feet (from the plane ride, heat and humidity) return to normal.

🌴 ALOE VERA GEL - I was wearing sun cream everyday and even though this wasn’t a sunbathing type of trip I still got caught out on the last day. I immediately applied the cooling aloe vera gel I’d packed to soothe my skin.

🌴 HEALING BALM - mosquitoes love me and Sri Lanka was no exception. I picked up at least one bite in every district we visited. I’d been applying aloe vera gel to soothe them but the improvement was slow. I picked up a healing balm which contained cardamom, cinnamon and nutmeg oils at the spice garden we visited and it instantly took the heat out of the bites and within a couple of days they were fine.

🌴 WATER - when it’s that hot it’s crucial to stay on top of hydration as you are sweating so much more than you usually do. I was averaging about 2.5 litres per day, sometimes 3.
